Feb. 3 [tonight] Third Thursday Body, Mind and Spirit Lecture Series

Posted by isulib on February 3, 2011

Rescheduled from January due to weather issues.

7pm-8:30pm

Dr. Jean Kristeller will present her work on the Mindfulness-Based Eating Awareness Training (MB-EAT) program that she has been developing for over 20 years. Although developed as a treatment program, the principles of MB-EAT apply to all of us, as we attempt to negotiate the complexity of our food-abundant culture with the nutritional needs of our own bodies. The MB-EAT program applies the principles of mindfulness to helping people reconnect with their own inner signals of hunger, fullness and taste satisfaction, in way that helps them bring better balance and wisdom not only to their relationship to food but to all aspects of their lives.

Library Open for Business: what about ‘overdue’ DVDs?

Posted by isulib on February 3, 2011

Thursday February 3 – the library – and campus – are up and running – even though some people still can’t make it in – boy that 1 inch of pure ice sure makes any kind of traveling difficult – too bad I gave up my skates years ago! For people who had DVDs come due while the Library was closed [February 1 and 2], our Circulation Librarian, Susan Frey would like you to know: You will not be fined for bringing them back ‘late.’  Late fees will be forgiven for the next few days. If you want specifics on your own account, please call 812.237.2541.

Library closed Wed. Feb. 2

Posted by isulib on February 2, 2011

It is an historic occasion when ISU closes. It is legendary when it closes for 2 days in a row. Such is the case today. The entire campus, including the Library, is closed. For on-campus students, the Rec Center has been a haven, opening at noon yesterday. Haven’t heard if it will be open today. Some Reference/Instruction Librarians monitored Chat yesterday and we got a few folks needing our help. I assume we will be open for business tomorrow.

Library closed at 10pm; ISU campus now closed Tuesday

Posted by isulib on February 1, 2011

The ice storm is settling in. When I left the building at 9pm everything was iced over with more rain/icing ongoing. Dean Comer authorized the library to close at 10pm. Just a few minutes ago, the campus officially announced it was closed for Tuesday.

For University weather-related updates on closings, etc., call 812.237.7777 [year-round].

We may have Live Chat up tomorrow, so if you have a question, go to http://library.indstate.edu/tools/reflive.html and see if we are ‘available’. Or use our email a librarian service at http://library.indstate.edu/tools/questions/.
