“Coming to See Aunt Sophie” display

A display case full of articles about the play “Coming to See Aunt Sophie” can be found on the first floor by the Reference Desk. The play, written by Dr. Arthur Feinsod from ISU Theater Department, is based on the true story of Jan Karski.  Karski was a courier for the Polish Underground during World War II and his story is heartbreaking and inspiring.

The display includes an autographed book (courtesy of Special Collections) reviews and articles gathered from the world premier this May in Germany and Poland. The play is part of the Crossroads Repertory Theatre season and runs from July 2 to July 22. For ticket information call 237-3334.

July 8: additional performances of play have been announced:

CANDLES Holocaust Museum and Education Center has been given the exciting opportunity to host the acclaimed production Coming to See Aunt Sophie on Saturday, July 19th at 1:30 p.m. The performance is open to the public and is free of charge.

If you are unable to attend on the 19th, Coming to See Aunt Sophie will also be performed on July 12th at 1:30 at the United Hebrew Congregation and will also be free and open to the public.
