LEAP Leadership in the Library

Posted by isulib on July 28, 2015

Student Success began moving some tables into the recently redesigned Room 233 (former computer cluster) for LEAP Leadership students study space in early July. More furnishings are being ordered and should all be in place for this space’s first official use in the LEAP program when Fall 2015 classes begin.  Student Success, however, plans to introduce the LEAP students who are on campus this summer to the new space before they leave for home on July 31.Student Success is scheduled to begin use of the recently redesigned Room 233 (former computer cluster) for LEAP Leadership students study space on Saturday July 11.

LEAP Leadership students (over 200 in the fall 2015 cohort) are required to study in a monitored space for a specified number of hours a week. This collaboration between the library and Student Success will draw students less likely to use the library into our space on a regular basis to build good study and learning behaviors. The space will be open to students outside the LEAP program when monitored study time is not scheduled.

The library is considered the go-to place for learning outside the classroom on our campus. We should be very proud that we create and maintain such an environment and culture of learning.
