Math and Writing Center Updates

Ms. Ellie Pounds, who has served as the Math & Writing Center’s administrative assistant for the past year and as a leader in math tutoring in the past, is now the Interim Coordinator of the center. In the past, Ellie has worked on marketing and special programs like the Summer Math Refresher and Math Fellows for the center.

Her work will now include hiring, training, and directly supervising the MWC’s 45 tutors and front desk workers, as well as scheduling workshops and in-class presentations. Her creativity, professionalism, and enthusiasm for implementing programs that help students develop a love for math and writing will surely continue to benefit her in this new role.

Ms. Pounds will now serve as the primary contact for scheduling presentations, or for questions about appointments and policies.

Nicole Bailey, Executive Director of Student Success, remains available to consult with faculty about writing-specific concerns.

Spring Break Hours: Math & Writing Center

The Math & Writing Center will be open from 12-4 p.m. over spring break on a drop-in basis for all your writing and math needs. Please note that we will not be open the weekends before or after spring break.

Interlibrary Loan: login change

Cunningham Memorial Library’s interlibrary loan software [ILLiad] was upgraded on Jan. 7. Old ILLiad login IDs and passwords are no longer valid. From the interlibrary loan page,, use your MyISU portal ID (Sycamore Login) ID and password to access your ILLiad account.

New users do not have to fill out a registration form anymore either! Just login and go.

Document Delivery

ILL will pull, scan, and send book chapters and articles that are available in the ISU Library.
Get started with this awesome service using ILLiad and request the book chapter or article like any other ILLiad article request.

Math & Writing Center seeks consultants for spring

Do your friends always ask you to read their papers? Do you have a knack for figuring out that problem that no one else in your class can solve? You might make a great math or writing consultant!

The Math & Writing Center is seeking upperclassmen with at least a 3.0 GPA to begin tutoring this spring. Apply for either Math Consultant or Writing Center through the student employment website. Be sure to include your undergraduate transcript, a cover letter, and your resume. If you are applying to tutor writing, please attach a research writing sample. Schedule now for Math & Writing Center representatives to visit a class this fall.

Representatives with can speak with students on a variety of topics, including the center’s services, the writing process, grammar, plagiarism, how to study for math, and any specific content areas related to information literacy or writing.

Visits can be scheduled by emailing or today.
